A Haunting We Will Go
Featuring “The Return of Dracula”

The Return of Dracula is full of mystery and suspense … just in time for Halloween!   We will explore Dracula’s two sides – the beast of the Vampire and the elegance of the Count – in the seduction of Mina to his dark side.

Premiere works by CDE Assistant Artistic Director, Diane McNeal Hunt, and guest artists Nicole OlsonRosenkrans Dans and Instinct Dancecorps will also be performed.

Frances Smith Cohen’s Snow Queen

Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s magical wintry fairy tale and set to Prokofiev’s lush score, Center Dance Ensemble brings the wicked “Snow Queen” to life! Families will delight in the mystical world of sprites, gypsies and ice maidens, while young Gerda seeks to rescue Kai from the evil crystal palace. A cherished holiday classic and Valley favorite!

An imaginative spellbinding performance of new and old works featuring the raw and fascinating “Rite of Spring” choreographed and set to Stravinsky’s magnificent score ‒ preceded by an opening first act based on “Creation”‒ choreography by CDE Assistant Artistic Director, Diane McNeal Hunt; Amber Robins and guest artist, Nicole Olson.

In Honor of National Poetry Month

Center Dance Ensemble dancers present original choreography inspired by American poetry in celebration of National Poetry Month. High school students participating in the “Poetry Out Loud” Arizona State Competition have  also been invited to present their poetry. Additional guest artists include: Nicole Olson, Dance Theater West and Metro Arts.
